Knowledge is Power

Socrates once said: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” People are constantly striving to know more. However, Socrates would say that no matter how much we think we know, in the grand scheme of things, we truly know nothing.

Albert Einstein - one of the brightest minds in history is quoted as saying: “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot.” We definitely equate knowledge with power, and old Al always feared what would come of us if we became too powerful.

Think about these statements.

Which of these brilliant men do you most agree with?

What if a person really did know everything there was to know?

Can knowledge ever become dangerous?

Please provide specific reasoning and examples to support your response.

    2. I agree more with Socrates about no matter how advanced we seem in technology, humanity really knows nothing. For our finite minds don’t have the ability to have absolute knowledge and be able to comprehend it, because our brains would probably go on an overload in just trying to be omniscient and understanding every detail from our Earth to the spacious universe. For no matter what discoveries we have found we being just human are foolish because just look at the things that we do (even with all the knowledge we have), as we can never guarantee every decision we make on our own is always right, because we are imperfect in nature and do stumble many times in our life with wrong decisions, but what we do is mature and learn from our mistakes for we are learning and growing even till the day we die.
Even if one person knew everything there was to know, visualize such knowledge in the hands of a human who by nature is imperfect and flawed, just think about if such power could even be contained within a human. Take a look at our world and how well it’s containing knowledge now. Even if you think you could control such knowledge, wouldn’t there be a possibility you would really start thinking about misusing this power for your own purpose, because even if you were the most knowledgeable person in the world that doesn’t mean you were going to always walk in the way of good. And just picture if you had such infinite power, wouldn’t a sense of superiority and arrogance creep up on you, putting yourself to be above everyone else. Just look at the kings and dictators with their abilities to rule, how many of them really took good care of their citizens and country (and sure there where those who did do well on their job), but my point is no matter how perfect you may think you are if one man was given such power imagine the true chaos that would erupt. If a human also had this knowledge just consider how much stress and fear the individual would have to live through knowing everything from the thoughts and lusts of mankind to the disasters that were going to happen… wouldn’t this leave a burden on the person’s life to live each day in fear, and also what would we ever try in life if we knew what would be the outcome.
I say knowledge is not a bad thing if it is used in the right way but we don’t need to have an omniscient mind in order to grow in life, but I also agree that some knowledge at times can be dangerous if it is being used for the wrong purposes

    3. I agree with Einstein more because although we may "know nothing", the human race has made amazing discoveries that proves we know a lot. Even though this is true metaphorically, it can also be proven otherwise. Of course no single person knows everything but as a whole, we know plenty.

Knowing too much is a bad thing because you can't get far without knowledge to back you up or help you in general. On the other hand, knowing too much can be a danger. Just like in many suspense novels, the main character is always trying to find out a secret that's made to protect them. If you know too much, you could live in fear of knowing what will happen and waste your life trying to fix things. If someone knew everything, they wouldn't have any mystery in their lives. It could be somewhat helpful at times but what's the point of watching a movie or reading a book if you know how every detail is/will be played out? This is why i agree with Einstein over Socrates.

    4. I agree with Albert Einstein because I think that a little bit or a lot of knowledge can be dangerous. I think if someone really did know everything it would be very dangerous. This is why I agree with Albert Einstein and think a little bit or a lot of knowledge can be dangerous.

    5. I agree with you, Lujayna, because Socrates never specified on what degree of knowledge. It's like saying Mozart know nothing about music. It's like saying geniuses who know their topic inside and out know nothing at all about what they are doing. “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” Why would someone want to know that they know nothing? is it just to feel wise, because I'm pretty sure wise people are the ones who know many things. Maybe i am interpreting the Socrates quote incorrectly, but the way i see it, Einstein is more correct.

    6. I agree with both men on their different aspects of this topic. I think Einstein is right because knowledge is dangerous in the hands of people who want to misuse it. But, I also understand Socrates perspective that no matter how much we think we know, we actually know nothing.

If someone actually knew everything that there was to know about, i think that our simple minds as humans, would go haywire by trying to process and analyze all that information. The person, as we are all flawed, would use the information given for their own personal gains. It is part of a human nature that we cant avoid. No matter how good of a person you might be, there is always a temptation of using this information for your own benefits.

In Socrates point of view, i have to agree that no matter how much we think we know, we actually know nothing. For example a world renowned Doctor could be the wisest person in his/her field, but in 100 years later, the techniques that we consider professional today might become just basic old school training for the new generation. Plus it is impossible to know anything in the world, its just not humanly possible. If it was, technology would be much more advanced, and our lives much easier. Therefore, no matter how much we think we know, we really know nothing

In the wrong hands knowledge can become very dangerous. For example if an evil person got a hold of such information, he would probably use it to overthrow the government, and take over as dictator. Thats why in the wrong hands knowledge can be dangerous, but in the hands of a good person, it can be a blessing.

    7. I agree with Stephen on the fact that even though we may seem like we know something, in reality, we don't know anything at all. It isn't humanly possible to know everything, its just not. We, as humans, have to accept the facts that we aren't that smart. No matter how good you may seem, there will always be someone who is better that you, whether its in your generation, or in the future generations.

    8. Socrates was right to say these things. for technology is overwhelming society. but technology is one of the societies greatest accomplishments.. if technology wasn't here we would have lost many lives. technology is saving and demolishing humans at the same time. its unnerving

    9. I agree with Einstein, because when someone has too much power it can be dangerous. If someone knew everything, they would worry about too much and get stressed out easily. knowledge can become dangerous, because when you know something you are not supposed to know, it can become dangerous, and people might not want you to know things to protect you. Also, if you know too little, you do not know how to protect yourself and enjoy life

  2. Though Albert Einstein's idea of the danger of knowledge is indisputable, I find that I agree with Socrates more than Einstein. Socrates, clearly, believed that edification was an endless process that would never continue, for humans are incapable of knowing everything on Earth, much less the wide, endless expanse that is the universe. He states this with some sort of resignation, for man must admit to being far from omniscient, and must admit to being a naive, unknowing creature. Einstein, contrastingly, appears to fear the garnering of greater knowledge, likely believing that even a modicum of knowledge is capable of leading to the undoing of mankind. However, I believe, as Socrates did, that the knowledge capable of being obtained by a mortal shall never be capable of superseding nature, or anyone, in fact, much less a very little amount as Einstein claimed. One may simply observe the many natural disasters of the world about us to perceive that, though man may be greatly advanced in technology and defense, he has not yet become capable of mastering the elements about him, and likely never shall come into the possession of great enough knowledge to do so. Knowledge, and the increasing of it, is not a thing that should be feared or prevented - doing so would lead into yet another sort of undoing.

If a person was truly omniscient and was aware of every single bit of information, then I daresay that he/she would likely be decimated by his own mind. To know of all the vices and crimes, all the scurrilous and filthy minds of the world, of all the cruel and horrifying things that have occurred and are to come is a terrible thing. I imagine that such a person, once 'endowed' with this knowledge, would fall to endless nights of nightmares and then sleeplessness, burdened by all the events that are to come and have passed, then be plunged into a infinite depression. It is not difficult to imagine that gradually, life shall become not only prosaic but repulsive to the aforementioned M. or Mlle. Omniscient, and he/she shall simply pine away.

Though I have stated that knowledge is worthy of obtaining, too much, at times, does become dangerous for fellow beings. A prime, though platitudinous, example would be that of the discovery of nuclear energy, which led to the creation of nuclear bombs and potently radioactive power plants. Originally cultivated to benefit man, it has become a bane for many countries, and a exceedingly destructive man made force. If one is to consider knowledge held by a single person, it can be easily conjectured that a human of ignominious heart could, with such knowledge, control others through threats and the creation of weapons or systems that would eventually prevent others from living as they do now, though it is for others to imagine what such a person would invent.

    1. I agree with almost everything you say. However, I believe that one person is easily able to obtain enough knowledge to supersede one another, and maybe someday even nature. Technology is advancing very quickly. It may not be soon, but I think someday we will be able to avert natural disasters before they happen. However, it will be a bittersweet victory in my opinion. Humans are the only species that are completely changing the Earth. Many drastic changes on Earth can be traced back to humans. Global warming was caused by humans polluting the ozone layer. The lionfish epidemic actively threatening the Atlantic has been traced to Florida pet owners. If we do manage to avert natural disasters, we will be changing something that was never meant to be altered.

    2. I loved reading your opinion of knowledge! I absolutely agree with you on how knowing everything could basically eat away at you . I never thought of that! But i also think that knowledge has a positive side, too. Though people are using it for nuclear bombs they are also using there knowledge in medicine and technology to save lives.

      Delete
    3. I also agree with almost everything that you said as we humans don’t have the power to be omniscient, though I also think not all knowledge is bad, too much and certain knowledge is dangerous in many different ways, because if we can be dangerous with the knowledge that we have now, it will be destructive for us to have infinite minds.

  4. I also lean to Socrates.

But I also agree with both quotes. Socrates brings the point of humility and wisdom of the knowledge you pertain, in respect to all knowledge, as we have no knowledge of things. While Albert Einstein illuminates the danger of knowledge, even a little is dangerous.

In my own opinion a person really knowing everything there was to know would not exist for knowledge itself is upon a large and expanse plane, and with this quote by Socrates a paradox presents itself. Knowledge can all ways become dangerous, you can take into account the Manhattan Project but at the same time we are also capable of good acknowledging the creation of nuclear reactors. So I leave the question following the philosophy of Socrates, if you knew everything and admitted you knew nothing, did you know anything in the first?

  6. Although I agree with both of these men, I believe that Edison's words are more important. Not knowing much is never good. There is no chance of a good future for you if you are not knowledgeable. However although knowledge is important, but too much of anything isn't good for you. If knowledge is power, then having more knowledge than another makes them inferior to you. This can get to your head, which leads to things such as dictatorships. Like Socrates said, no one person can know everything, but one person can know enough to cause harm to themselves and others.

If any one person did somehow know everything, I think they would have no reason to live left. Life is a journey, but if you knew exactly how that journey was going to happen, there was no point on traveling the path again to find out. If they did choose to live it again, they would try to fix every mistake they ever made, and therefore just cause it to occur again, as you can't change the future.

Knowledge can definitely become dangerous. For example, almost every person has things that they try to hide. If any one person knew these things, they could be used to blackmail others into doing their bidding and make themselves more powerful. Power is what everyone is trying to achieve. People always believe that their ideas and opinions are superior to others, although nobodies ideas are completely correct. If any one person could have their desires completely fulfilled, it would destroy the world. Due to humans being narrow- minded, they would most likely not be open to suggestions to improve their ideas. For every one great idea an person has, there are many bad ones. If those bad ideas are not rejected by someone and are implemented, then the world would be put into chaos. Knowledge is power, and power that is not closely controlled l can be lethal to everyone.

    1. I agree with you absolutely, however, I believe that even if you were able to obtain knowledge that wouldn't be able to tell you into the future. I would consider that as "super powers." Even the person who knew everything, would only be able to know what is happening to the world know and in the past. They might be able to make better predications then everyone else, most often it will probably be true, but there is always that possibility it will be wrong.

    2. Your belief in Einstein's idea appears to have been based on a different interpretation than I. He claimed that even a little bit of knowledge was dangerous, and appears to have suggested that people should guard themselves from the increasing of too much knowledge. In any case, if one is capable of equipping that knowledge for the worse, cannot other put it to good use? Then knowledge would conquest over knowledge. Instead, to be kept in oblivion would only result in the deterioration of minds and incapability of doing anything against whoever decides to gain more.

    3. I respect your opinion Alisha, but however, if you absolutely know everything about everything you would be able to live in the moment without making mistakes as much as the person who has little knowledge. That does not mean that he or she will know everything about the journey of life. Even if you have the knowledge about everything that does not mean you will have the power to tell the future. Having the full capacity of knowledge just enhances your ability to make better decisions about the difficult choices in life. I also believe that if you have the full capacity of knowledge, you can change the world in a good way or a bad way, based on what your intentions are.

      Delete
    4. I agree with you but if someone knew everything about everything they would know everything about the journey of life. And I agree with you when you said that, "if you have the full capacity of knowledge, you can change the world in a good way or a bad way, based on what your intentions are."

    5. I agree with your statement how when one knows too much they can use it for good purposes as well as bad purposes. But when you know everything wouldn't you also know that it is better to do the right thing and not blackmail or use the power of knowledge for evil reasons. I side more with Einstein too so I can see how you comprehended Einsteins intelligent words.

      Delete
  7. Even though Albert Einstein has his points in his quotes, but however i believe that if you have too much knowledge, you would be able to do the right thing. On the other side, if a person with little knowledge and you "try to take over the world," they wouldn't be able to with lack of knowledge and communication skills. With Socrates, everyone knows something about it, but when asked you can't but stutter. But, in order to know one thing, you have to learn everything down to the atom. No one can learn everything about an object, because as technology develops, so is our education about the world.

Even though everybody knows what is happening around the world, but take all the information in the world and it is nothing compared to your knowledge. If a person did have all the knowledge, he/she would only know the information at the time, not in the future. No matter how smart you are you can't tell the future, So technically your living a life that is the same as others, but you having an advantage for work/school.

Knowledge can definitely can become dangerous. Learning to much about the world, can cause people to believe that they can "rule over the world." They would learn to create bombs, guns, bullets. Including their communication skills, they could be able to convince people, one at time, to come join the cause even though they won't really understand. Even though they wouldn't understand, they would sound super intelligent and everybody would think they were the most intelligent person. However i also believe that if you are able to gain that much knowledge, you would be able to tell right from wrong.

I would like to add on more thing to think about though, If you know everything, and you never make any wrong choices, how will you develop menatlly and maturally? What about "enjoying the moment" or just life in general?

    2. I agree with you but i have a different view point to share with you. Character and personality is a big factor of knowledge. Not all people with superior knowledge are dangerous. Your character's actions determines how they deal with their knowledge. But i definitely agree with you "No matter how smart you are you can't tell the future".

    3. I agree with you that knowledge could be definitely dangerous, but knowledge can also be used for the greater good, if someone did know everything. Yes, they could convince people to "rule the world" but I believe that knowledge is not dangerous; it's the person who holds it and what he/she decides on how to use it.

    4. I agree with you about how technology changes over time so you can never know everything. For example, the cell phone. The cell phone used to be ginormous and now its like a mini computer you can slide into your pocket. Like knowledge, theres always room for improvement.

    5. Michelle, I agree with you that knowledge can become dangerous and that people can start to consider themselves very intelligent when knowledgeable. But, I believe that if you know everything, you should be able to know about the future and the life of the world to come.

  8. I agree with Albert Einstein because I do believe that having too much or too little of knowledge can hurt you, and others around you. For example, if you never were introduced to society, meaning you and your family weren't very social, then once you go out into the real world as an adult to explore, you will have to gain knowledge about society the hard way, which will have its consequences on you, your family, and the society. I also belive that having too much knowledge can also be dangerous. For example, if you know the ends and outs of your society down to a perfect science, then you can end up corrputing it and creating something that no one could have ever imagined. If a person knew everything there was to know, that could be a very dangerous situation based on the person. if the person is a mature and wise person like the Giver than that wouldn't be a dangerous situation because they know what can happen if any secrets get out. If the person is like May from the, Junie B.Jones series, then they could let out all of thier knowlegde just to prove something, and end up jepoardizing, if not ruining, the whole society. Of course knowledge can become dangerous. It can corrupt, ruin, and change lives forever in a negative or positive way.

  10. Albert Einstein states “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot.” I definitely agree with Albert Einstein. But at the same time Socrates once said: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” His humble words make me agree him, agreeing with them both. If you actually know something, you know it to its full extent and ultimate knowledge. Which is impossible to humans, if we were to know every living detail; sagacious and understanding every detail from the earth and multiple galaxies. Einstein powerful words persuade me to relate his words to history and destruction around us. Without knowledge you wouldn’t know about slavery. Segregation. Terrorism. Swears. But at the same time knowledge can lend us a hand. The gives us a better understanding of life, makes our surrounding clearer. Knowledge can grant a superior advantage to any person without. Knowledge is power, but no knowledge is simply pure innocence. Knowledge can be dangerous to an uncertain extent. The power of knowledge is unpredictable because no one ever has reach their full capacity of brain level. An average human being is told to using 10% of their brain at all times. Einstein one of the greatest minds alive and Margret Mead both consuming 20% of their brain power. We are always learning in our life, learning from the day we were born from our mother womb, to the last breath we take. There’s only a little human brain can suck up and through those facts many could be faulty and erroneous. If there really was ever a person to know everything to know, I hope they use the superior knowledge for the moral and upright thing to do. Character is an important factor to knowledge. Knowledge is power, and power is decided with your actions, actions is made throughout your life; it’s your choice to make them virtuous or corrupt.

    1. I agree with you I think knowledge can be can be decided by character and who you are and what you would do with the power that was granted to you. I agree with you knowledge is not pure innocence but a little dangerous in itself even if knowledge advances the world. If advancement damages our world. Is it even advancement at all. I hope they would use for good too and I think that character would probably be a deciding factor

    2. I completely agree with you. Although knowledge is a powerful, too much of it is simply disastrous. Just like in a dictatorship; its good to have someone direct and take charge but once they become too powerful, it turns into a catastrophe. That is why nobody was created to know everything. Even the smartest people like Einstein and Socrates. But then you made me realize maybe Socrates was just as agreeable with because the mysteries of life are infinite and we know a lot less than we actually believe.

      Delete
    3. I definitely agree with you on the concept of knowledge never being pure innocence. Every piece of information has a good side and a bad side. It's left for you to decide whether to use it properly or corruptly. Character, values, decisions, and knowledge are very closely linked together thus showing that you control what you know and how you use it. You are the one who choses between a life where every day is a new day or a life where every day brings you Déjà vu.

      Delete
  11. Although both of these quotes are true, I agree more with Einstein. Albert Einstein is saying that when you know something that could hurt someone, even if it is the smallest rumor, it could be extremely dangerous to someone else. But when there is information that is leaked, and you don't know about it, you won't have to be involved with the whole thing and only the ones who know will be in trouble. When you know something someone else doesn't, you have an advantage over them, but Socrates is saying "what you don't know won't hurt". That is true, however, but when you don't know something, that makes you further behind than everybody else. While everyone else is gaining more knowledge, you will not have the power to move on. It might be true wisdom to not get involved by not knowing, but at the same time, it creates a drawback on yourself when everyone else is ahead of you.

I disagree that knowledge is actually dangerous, it's more of who is controlling the information. You can use knowledge to help people with someone who does not know, but on the other hand, someone could use it for evil. Knowledge is not evil, it is the controller to decide to take advantage of it or not. For example, it is like the saying, "guns don't kill people, people kill people".

If a person really knew everything there was to know, he could be worshipped like a god, or become an evil mastermind. The person could solve the world's problems, end crime, stop global situations, and create peace. The world would be a sanctuary with him, all is good and no evil. However, the person could use his extreme knowledge to conquer the world, become a dictator of the world, and totally turn the world upside down. There would be no limit to his evil plan, for it would never be flawed. Those are two possibilities that someone with knowledge of the world could create. A society of amity or a nefarious world. But that is also why nobody could have such a power, for 1 person should not be able to rule the world.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree with both Einstein and Socrates, but however, I lean towards Einstein more because in life you have to have some kind of knowledge to help you make tough decisions and to help you succeed in the future. But, when you know too much information, that is not good for you because too much of anything, even good things, are not good for you. For example, when scientists in America learned how to make an atomic bomb, that bomb that was made killed many innocent Japanese civilians in World War 2.

If someone who really did know everything about everything in the world, I believe that knowledge would most likely be used for good and bad things, based on what the person wants. If the person had full knowledge he or she would have an easier time with work, school, and other important aspects of life. At the same time I think that knowing everything would also be a curse because there is a lot of bad information in the world and when you know that kind of information it can make you go mad, sad, scared, or even depressed.

There is no doubt that knowledge can be very dangerous. When someone finds out important secrets about anything or anyone, that person could use that knowledge to their advantage and basically blackmail someone to get what they want. Knowledge can make a person manipulate a group of people to join their cause, for example Hitler. The more knowledge a person knows the more easily that person can obtain power, which every single person goes after. Knowledge is an excellent thing to have, but when you know you too much, things can out of control.

    1. I agree with you. I think that both Socrates and Einstein were correct. I never thought about using the information to blackmail someone, but it makes a lot of sense. I f we were to give everything to know to someone, we would have to choose someone responsible. Someone who could handle all the knowledge. I love how you used events from history for your example. AWESOME!

    2. I totally agree with you! I like the Hitler example, it's perfect. Reading what you said, it kind of made me think about how both men's statements kind of overlap in a way. The more knowledge a person has, the easier it is to get control, but knowledge should come with humbleness.

  13. In such a delicate matter as to posses knowledge, I would have to agree with Socrates " The only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing".The true wisdom in knowledge is understanding that you know nothing and you will never really know anything. You do not know why humans die, but it happens.Humans truly know nothing and know matter how much technology we have, we still truly know nothing. We see things through an ignorant haze thinking we already know everything about something like grass, which we truly know nothing about. Knowledge is a concept humans will never yet be able to grasp much less, understand. I think that even the most brilliant scientists can never truly know everything about the world and how it works, They can take shots with brilliant equations and theories they might have knowledge but what about the other side of knowledge people hold secrets and this in itself is knowledge. That is a reason we will never truly know anything

I think if one person were truly understand the world and know everything it would make every one ignorant in comparison. This person would hold a high place in our society. This person could be our hero or our oppressor. They might try to take over our world and could be a threat that would be hard to wipe out. I think they it would be scary knowing one person knows everything including everything about you. It would mean that mean that person would see and know everything and that would be a threat.
I think there are two sides to knowledge, light and dark. Too much knowledge could be dangerous and too little could also be dangerous.Too much knowledge could be dangerous and sometimes there are things that do not need to be known. Knowledge can be very dangerous. It can also cure people like a cure to cancer or any disease.

  14. I agree with both, Albert Einstein and Socrates.
Socrates said, "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” No matter how much we believe we have learned and we know, we actually know close to nothing. There is so much going on in this world as we speak or even as I blog this , both good and bad, that it is impossible to know it all. Constantly, new things are happening that bring us joy and make us frown. No matter, how long you go to school or no matter how long you live, you will still know very little. Everyday, we hear people saying, "OMG! You like know everything!" But the truth is, knowing everything may not be as good as it is cut out to be.
Albert Einstein is quoted as saying “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot.” I think that this is correct as well. Knowing little can ruin our society drastically. Just imagine if we didn't have brilliant minds such as Albert Einstein, Alexander Graham Bell, or even just the engineers of today. What would our world be like if we didn't have televisions, phones, bridges, cars. One thing is for sure, it would be way different. Knowing a lot can be harmful as well. Our parents protect us from seeing murder and criminal shows. Why? Simply because knowing that information is harmful to any human. Knowing such tragedies has been known to cause mental problems and even push people to take their own death. I think it's obvious that not everything in this world is pretty and beautiful. It's true: our country is at war, we do have shootings, children do die everyday, and innocent people's lives end forever. And the saddest part is, there is no way we can change it. Knowing truly everything can be sad.
If someone really did know everything there is to know, I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't be the happiest people alive. Although they would ace through school and be crazy smart, inside, they would be suffer on the inside. Honestly, it would become hard for me to live with all that information just bubbling up inside of me.
Knowledge can definitely become dangerous. If you were to find out something you weren't supposed to know, it could come out by accident one time or another. Also, it could make other people to be mad at you. For example, if you found out something about your friend that was private and accidentally blurted it out, you could cause a break in your friendship.

    1. To come to think of it, both Socrates and Albert Einstein were correct because according to Socrates, we truly know nothing because new events, even minor ones, happen every second of the day. I agree with you when you say why our parents prevent us from watching violent movies, yes, to keep us away from having mental thoughts of harming others, or even harming ourselves.

      Delete
    2. As I agree with you, I interpret "knowing nothing" in a slightly different manner. Whereas it is true that events occur every moment that we do not know of, it is also true that so much information has already been discovered that we don't know. And I don't think anyone, or any human, will every be able to acquire such knowledge that they have nothing else to know because there is always more to comprehend from the past and present.

  15. I agree with Albert Einstein because knowing too much can harm you in certain ways. There are some things that it would be better if you never heard them. Sometimes, it is to much for you or you just cant wrap your finger around the idea that this could be possible. Also, knowing to little can make you ignorant in certain situations.

In order for someone to strategize a plan to get out of a bad situation, you would have to have some of the information you have learned from other people, and prior knowledge you have seen/experienced/studied about. You dont just need knowledge for bad situations, you also need it for everyday activities. If there was a pop quiz, you wouldn't know to study the night before, so you would need to know the information before hand. Or when your grown up, you will have to have to know how to do your job correctly so you can earn your paycheck. If you know a little extra, you might just earn yourself a promotion or a christmas bonus.

You can never know everything, but you can know too much. Trying to know to much will effect you dramatically. I like to say that there is a line that was drawn long ago, things you shouldn't know for the better. If you cross the line, bad things happen. It depends on how far you cross the line to determine the punishment for knowing too much. The line is in a different place for everyone. You might not be able to see the line, but you will know when you cross it.

  16. Although I agree with both statements, I agree more with Einstein. Imagine having a very little amount of knowledge. Having little knowledge is dangerous because if you don't know much, not only will you have bad grades, but you will not be able to make great life decisions or decisions that with further you in a positive way. Everyone needs some knowledge, its just common sense. Now, Imagine being omniscient. You would know the past, present, future. You would know everything. The outcome of one knowing everything is unknown because it has not happened. We could guess that knowing everything could get to your head and you would want to do something crazy like take over the world. I think the real danger comes when we begin to realize the human race would not be able to comprehend all that an omniscient mind has to say. You would drive yourself crazy trying to know things we don't know for reasons unexplained. I think Einstein hit this right on the head when he summed knowledge up.

Socrates was right in what he had to say as well. "The only true knowledge is in knowing that you know nothing." - Socrates. This is true because we as humans will never be able to know everything. No matter how far we travel and explore, our endless galaxy's secrets will not all be uncovered. I think Socrates is just trying to tell us to be humble and acknowledge we will never know everything.

  17. Although both men have a good point, i agree more with Albert Einstein when he said “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot.” With the knowledge we have at our age, it isnt dangerous, but when people are too advanced and know alot about technology and devises, thats when it starts to get dangerous. One day, the technology we create could backfire on us and become too smart for us to handle.

If someone truly knew EVERYTHING about the world, then their mind would start to control what they do, and they would create devises too complex for the regular human mind to understand. They would begin to think that they're superior over others. But, i also agree with Socrates when he said “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” No matter how smart you are, you will never know what is going to happen in the future, and you only possess the knowledge from your time and the generations before your time.

Knowledge can become dangerous, for sure. For example, in multiple movies/television shows, the bad guy or good guy has an accomplice, but they never tell them why they are doing what theyre doing. When the partner asks about it, a lot of times the leader says, "The less you know, the better." Which applies in shows, and in real life. Usually, when a partner knows something about what they are actually trying to do, they get themselves in a sticky situation, or even get themselves killed in some cases. You have to know enough to get you through life, but you cant know enough to beat the game of life.

    2. i like what you said about the future because we only know what is happening now and what happened in he past not what might happen tomorrow or five years from now. i also agree on what you said about how knowledge can backfire and become to much for us to handle if it gets to dangerous.

    3. I agree with you because I'm sure lots of people will become over confident about knowing everything there it to know. At first, I didn't really agree with Socrates's way of thinking. The way you put it, it actually did make a lot of sense!

  18. I agree most with Albert Einstein, because I too feel that it can be dangerous to know too much (in the sense of knowing something you shouldn't know)or knowing too little (not being aware of your surroundings, and such). For example, having the knowledge about someone you know that they had kept away from you for a reason, it may break a friendship or worse.
I feel it wouldn't be possible to know everything there is to know, and if you could, it would be extremely overwhelming and even dangerous for you. Many people say that there are some things best left unknown, and knowing everything could really hurt someone in that sense. And what if everything we thought we knew was all wrong? How would it feel to be the only one to know the truth? It would feel horrible, for sure. And no one would believe a word you were saying.
Knowledge can be dangerous. In the sense that you knew information that could land someone in jail or worse. That person you know about would not want you to tell anyone, and if you did, they might hurt you. And some things about people that they keep hidden from others may be so horrid that many would find it too overwhelming to know.
Knowledge is definitely a wonderful thing, but there are reasons for why you know what you know. And though many want to know more, it may be best if they don't.

    1. Although both men had undescribably intriguing thoughts/comments, I favor Albert Einstein's philosophy. He obviously stated that a little bit of knowledge is dangerous and so is having more. If you have little knowledge, you could do unsatisfactory in school or in life and not make the right decisions. But if you have too much knowledge, it could affect the outcome of your life or the world as a whole.

If you knew everything, it could change the way the Earth functions as a whole. It would destroy not only a person's physical state but their mental state as well. It would destroy society and extreme hostility would erupt in the world because everyone would want to know what their fate was and ho the life functions. Personally, I believe that a person's brain would go on major overload because they would ponder everything that they knew and what they could tell others. If I were that person, I would be confused all the time because of all the information that I knew.

Knowledge can be a bad thing. You could change the future by inventing things that should've been invented in the years to come. You could determine a person's fate by directing them through their troubles and boundaries. They would never learn anything and think of themselves too highly. Too much knowledge always leads to trouble.

  19. Even if Socrates' and Albert Einstein's quotes are pretty reasonable, I seem to side with Albert Einstein's opinion better. Having a narrowed knowledge is risky in life, because to succeed in our generation's future, we have to obtain more knowledge than what our past generations have created today; our smartphones, touch-screen computers, and especially Siri. If people nowadays lacked knowledge, what would our future come to be? Boring, old, and nothing to look forward to. On the other hand, too much knowledge can be critical. If someone had endless knowledge, then it could cause danger to people who don't necessarily deserve it from that specific person. Like Albert Einstein said, a little knowledge is dangerous, so is too much.

Knowledge has its advantages and disadvantages. If someone knew everything there was to know in this world, then they would have nothing to look forward to. I'm not just saying a surprise party from a friend, but being super smart and knowing everything does not give you a life full of journeys. Living has its purpose of learning from your mistakes and making memories, but being perfect and having this ability prevents you from living your life to its fullest. Acquiring all knowledge also has its upside. You can benefit others with the ability of knowledge like help find a cure for polio, or even prevent robberies and kidnappings from proceeding.

Knowledge can become very dangerous because in our generation today, most people are greedy. With people that can obtain all knowledge, you may encounter someone who is blackmailing you with your darkest secret just to get what they want. Also with too much knowledge, people will start creating deadly weapons, bombs, and even robots who can destroy all mankind. Only the greedy, selfish, and stubborn people will use this ability of knowledge to endanger others, but the one percent, down-to-earth, humans will use this skill to assist the people in need and help create a positive effect on today's generation.

  20. I believe Albert Einstein is correct. Knowing nothing is a huge problem. It causes people to be ignorant and harmful to other people. The lack of knowledge could cause people to suffer because of their limited experience with learning. It is also a big problem because without the proper knowledge, you could be easily manipulated into believing something that isn't socially right. on the other hand, having too much knowledge could be a horrible thing. it could make someone a condescending jerk who belittles everybody else. nobody likes that kind of person, and it would make things more complicated than it needs to be.
i disagree with Socrates. I do believe that if someone goes through an experience, they will gain knowledge about it. they will know what has happened, and that is knowledge about what happened. in other words, even if you know one little fact about a topic, you hold information on it. therefore, you are "knowledgeable" in that area.
if someone knew everything there is to know, he would know everything about everyone. to me,that's a little creepy. He could know something about a person who themselves don't even know. he would hold way too much power because he would know everything's weaknesses. he could bring the world to it's knees and do anything he would want. in the book Flowers for Algernon, the main character becomes much smarter. He learned about his old life and resented it. It would be so much worse with the man who knows everything in the world because he would be too smart for people or society, causing him to become a recluse and die alone.
Too much knowledge could be very dangerous to yourself because no one likes a nosy person. it's also bad because people fear someone more powerful. knowledge becomes very dangerous when there are certain people who know that you know what they did. then they will be merciless and try to get rid of you. that's when knowledge could be dangerous.

  21. Even though I agree with both men, I would have to side with Edison because knowledge really is power. Sometimes being too smart and knowledgeable can lead to bad things if not guided in the right direction. These people may be the result of dictators or the creators of dangerous bombs. However there are also people who have little knowledge and act on what little they know. These people fall into the words of Socrates saying " The only true wisdom is in knowing nothing." They do not know every aspect of every thing or person or event.
If a human being were to know everything, then what would be their meaning of life? The meaning of life varies but is made through discoveries and adventures. The word knowledge itself means to learn through education or experience, so what would the point be if you knew everything?
I believe that knowledge is a dangerous thing because it has caused people to invent or make world changing decisions. However knowledge can also be a positive thing because it saves lives through new ideas of technology and medicine.

If you always think you know everything you will never stride to learn more, no human will ever stop learning nor reach perfection. No one will ever know everything there is to know because even a lifetime isn't enough time to know everything. We are constantly learning new things. 23. Both of these quotes are very good but i would agree to Einstein because a little amount of knowledge can hurt in in the future as well was a lot. If you have a lot of knowledge, you start to get cock and think of yourself as higher than your peers. It will get into your head and the power over others with get to you.

If someone really did know everything we would become dependent on that one person instead of doing it ourselves. Also it would be bad for the person who knew everything because they would get the feeling of seniority and put down others.

Knowledge can be a dangerous thing when it gets into someone's head. Like i said before they would let the power over others get to them and the would disrespect others. Also you would base almost everything you do on logic and that is not a good thing because certain things just happen for a reason that you cannot explain.

  24. I have to agree with Albert Einstein when he said, "Too much knowledge can hurt you." This statement is very true because it is proven everyday; with each murder or a kid going somewhere they shouldn't. For example if you were to be a prime witness to a crime. You are very imortant to law enforcement because you know more that they do. But if the person who committed the crime were to know who you are then he would obviously target you in a violent way to shut you up. But not only can too much knowledge kill you but too little can have the same affect. If you arent smart enought to know to not go into a pen of lions with no training in how to deal with them then that's a great way to prove that that is obviously a fact. And imagine if we knew everything. Not only would life be dangerous but absolutely no fun because we would have nothing to learn.

  25. I agree with both Socrates' idea of the impossibility of knowing everything and Einstein's idea of the danger of knowledge because both men had a completely different view on knowledge making both their ideas debatable. Socrates saw knowledge through reality and the likelihood of a person actually knowing everything there was to know while Einstein saw knowledge more theoretically than logically.

If a person was somehow able to achieve the impossible by knowing everything there was to know, then that person would have no need to live. The beauty of life is the anxiety of awaiting and not knowing what is coming your way. Why live life if you know what's going to happen next? Knowing everything there is to know becomes a "spoiler", killing your will to know the entire story.

There is a limit for everything, as there is for knowledge. Too much of anything isn't good for you. Some things are meant to hide because when let out, they will hurt others. One of the driving factors of life is hope, and if you know so much that you lose all hope, then you will begin to lose the will to live. If you thought you were about to die, would you look at your medical tests and lose all hope of living, or would you never look at the medical tests and have hope that you would continue living? Knowledge can be your greatest friend and your biggest enemy. Although having little knowledge can't get you very far in life, having too much can take away your life for good.

  26. Although both Albert Einstein and Socrates make good points, I think I agree more with Einstein's quote "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot." Knowing too little knowledge is obviously a bad thing because if you don't know anything, you can't get by or survive on your own. You become naive and you have to depend on others. On the other hand, knowing too much knowledge can also be very dangerous. In the hands of the wrong person, your knowing too much can cause corruption and arrogance. You know things that shouldn't be known. If there really was someone who knew everything there was to know, than that would be a perfect example of corruption. He/she would be a threat to everyone. There are just some things we should not know. If that person knew about secret things a country did and tells another country, we could end up in a world war, which could mean the end of the struggle for peace and in the worst case scenario, the end of humanity. That person would also be affected mentally. Your arrogance would go to such an extent as to thinking you surpassed a God. He/she would think of themselves as unstoppable. And the worst part I think of knowing everything is that you'd turn into a complete and total jerk. Correcting everybody on what is true and false about life and pointing out every thing you've ever done wrong and why. It would be annoying. That is why I think knowing too much or too little is very dangerous as it could cause corruption to your friends, family, society, and most importantly yourself.

  27. Although both sayings are true, I most agree with Socrates. This is because his saying reflects on how humble a person is. If one never asked for help, he/she reflects the type of person who is satisfied with just their knowledge. Believing that you know nothing, will always keep you curious to know more, therefore, gaining you knowledge, because there is always something to learn from life till the last breath you take.
If a person really did know everything there was to know, life would be boring. Every day is supposed to be unknown, a day of learning new techniques, but if someone knew everything, life would be bland.
Knowledge can definitely become dangerous, because knowing anything and everything can even cause lives. For example, in movies, or even in the real world, there is this one person who knows the secrets of each side, therefore tempting one of those sides to take the life of that person.

  29. I personally agree with Albert Einstein. Having little knowledge means that you don't know how to generally be a useful human being. You don't know what what would and wouldn't benefit you. Things like government would be a nightmare. Some people think that knowing everything would be a good thing, but then what would we have to look forward to? What would we have to work towards? The good thing about not knowing everything is learning. It's having trial and error. Messing something up one time, and being content with yourself when you conquer the task the next time. The saying that mistakes are meant to be learned from wouldn't matter anymore. If we knew everything, we could end up being hazardous to ourselves. Knowing everything means that we would be able to "perfect" human kind. We would know everyone's weakness'. The world would be a dystopia of sorts. A life where nothing is new, isn't one worth anything in my opinion. Everyone hates that kid who thinks they know it all. We would all be that kid.

  30. I agree with the brilliant minded, Albert Einstein. “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot.” It is not okay for someone to not know anything. In fact it is nearly impossible! However it is even more impossible to know everything. If a person knew everything in the world, the world would be left with no surprises. Life is meant for surprises and thats what makes life so precious. On the other hand, Socrates once said: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” He means that even though you think you know everything, you actually don't know anything. I somewhat agree with him, but Albert Einstein states this idea more clear.

  31. Although I agree with both Albert Einstein and Socrates, Einstein's words speak more to me. If we look back into history, the people living in the ancient times already had a vast amount of knowledge. Their knowledge conclude of leaders with great power over the nations. Many times, repeatedly, a knowledgeable person would step up among ruins and revive a fallen city, state, or country. Therefore, usually the person would grasp all the power into their own hands. Consequently, if that person abuses his/her power , then their future would not be as bright.
Knowledge is a most certainly a weapon. Very few know how to use it correctly in combat, so knowledge is usually turned into a enemy. The word knowledge gives a positive connotation, but it is like a mask. On the outside it seems all elegant and prosperous, but when the mask is taken off it reveals a deadly secret.

  32. I agree with Albert Einstein. Having a little knowledge could be dangerous, also could having alot. If you were in a life or death situation this would be circumstance where alittle knowlegde could be dangerous. But likewise, having alot of knowledge would also be dangerous. When you know everything in the world, there would be no point in living or explrong life; life would be a boring watse of time. You would already know everything there is to know about everything. There would be no fun in that because when would you ever be able to experince the up and downs of life? You as person would never be able to enjoy the rollercoaster we call life.

  33. Albert Einstein once said "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. So is a lot.” I totally agree with this statement, because in life if we know nothing, then we will never proceed as we should. On the other hand, if we know too much, there would never be a surprise in life. We would live in a plain, black-and-white, world.

If a person knew all there was to know, I think their brains would probably explode from confusion. For example, every secret in the world would be exposed to them. They could use that power negatively. They could make friends turn on each other. Every man would be for themselves making the world extinct. On the other, they could use this power for good. They could tell everyone what their future would be like, what mistakes they'll make, and how to prevent mistakes from happening. This could be great, for a person who wants a boring life. I think we were meant to make mistakes so that we can become better people. If everyone knew what to do, there would be no room for improvement. You would be stuck in a tiny bubble forever.

So do I think knowledge is dangerous? Of course! Knowledge is like medicine. Too little will have no affect on you causing you to become more ill. But, too much can kill you.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i totally agree with you but i also think the character of the individual is the most important part of the situation, not all people with superior knowledge could be bad. They could be nice and not tell them their future and mistakes and keep to themselves.

  35. I agree with Socrates even when you learn a lot it just opens more doors to knowledge and it'll keep on going so really we haven't learned anything.

If there really was a person who knew everything then it would be terrible for him becaus all the sorrow and distress he would know, but he could also help people like who was the killer what that desaese is and how to treat it. Even thought that guy would know everything he would still have a terrible life.

Knowledge is dangerouse but it's also life saving. It could work both ways it just depends how you chose to use it. It's kind of like a gun you can save someone's life or take someone's . Depends on you

  36. I agree with Albert Einstein because if one has too little knowledge it can become difficult to understand complex situations and they will be unable to come to a solution to their problems. By not being able accomplish what is needed to be done that will create more problems and bring a burden to them. But if you know too much then you can become arrogant and conceited. There will also be nothing for you to learn which can cause one to have unexciting experiences in life.
If there was someone that knew everything that can cause the person to become constantly on edge and bothered about the problems they knew about. They would feel guilty because they were not there to solve a conflict that they would have been able to fix. Furthermore, when knowing absolutely everything there would be no surprises or adventures in your life.
I believe that knowledge can become dangerous if it is used for selfish purposes. If your knowledge is put into a good cause then it would not be dangerous because you are helping others and not only for your desires.

  37. I feel that I agree more with the brilliant philosopher, Socrates. As humans, it is beyond our capability to know everything in the universe. Those who realize the ultimate truth, that we, in fact, don't know anything, are able to understand more. Those who are humbled and clear-minded, and appreciate the beauty of learning rather than try to satisfy their thirst to know more than everyone else, are ultimately more successful in life as a whole. One who is willing to admit that they do not know everything, is wise, because they are aware of the vast expanse that we call knowledge, and are not, straightforwardly, ignorant. One who proclaims to know everything is ignorant, and moreover, knows nothing.

It is simply impossible to know everything, because we are all imperfect, replete with flaws. Those who do not accept the fact that they do not really know anything, in the grand scheme of things, often become mad and greedy with power, which history has proven over the years. If one was to know truly everything, they would most likely boast of themselves, resulting in an arrogant and complacent person who pleases him/herself with their false belief of knowing everything.

This directly correlates to the quote by Einstein- which I also agree with strongly. Ignorance is bliss, some may say, but the bliss only lasts so long. Once the harsh truth is revealed, a great amount of damage can be inflicted upon the ignorant.. However, those who know too much can be dangerous, too; utilizing their power in ways that are detrimental to society, or even to themselves. But in the end, knowledge is powerful- something that must be handled carefully; a little too much or too little can be immensely destructive.

    1. Riya, I agree with you that ignorance is bliss for a few moments of your life. When you are finally let out into the open world, you would be so lost and scared if you didn’t know what was happening. Sometimes, if they are kept in the dark about something, it can still hurt them. Say someone didn’t know about cancer, and they had it. They would be too late to do anything about it while the very rare symptoms occur. The longer you keep something away from a person the worse it’s going to hurt them when they find out. Ignorance can be bliss, depending on the topic and how much you are keeping in the dark.

So is a lot.” This quote by Einstein is great, because if you believe that you know everything or even if you do know everything then you will most likely become a jerk. You would most likely be cocky and arrogant. If you know nothing then you would be dumb and naive. If you do not know enough then you will be disliked for being dumb. If knowing everything then you will have so much knowledge in your brain that it will drive you crazy. If someone with the wrong intentions knew everything then they could mess up the planet really badly. I agree with Einstein that knowing too little is a problem, but knowing too much is also a major problem.

  40. I would agree with Einstein more because I believe that knowledge is dangerous more than I believe knowledge is truly nothing.

Because, think about it. If you had a man who went to college for four years and got his master’s degree, standing next to a man without any education, such as a high school dropout, who is more likely to lead a better life. Obviously the college graduate. Not to say knowledge isn't dangerous, but if used in the correct way, it can lead to a long happy life.

While we are on the topic about life, this also contributes to my standing point. Knowledge has been used to prolong lives, make medicines, and even create the cells of creatures. Although too much knowledge could be hazardous, I still stand with the opinion that knowledge is a good thing to have. I don't believe at all that "we know nothing."

I think that if someone did have all the knowledge in the world, it would be quite dangerous.

However, if he/she did have that power, wouldn’t she/he help more than hurt? All the knowledge would have him/her know how to cure diseases, who was about to die (and how to stop that), how to solve things more efficiently, and stop pollution and prevent us from running out of resources. Also, if he/she had all the intelligence and knowledge, he/she would know how to and would fix anything that needed fixing.

Knowledge can become too powerful. However, it isn't the knowledge's fault if it is used correctly. I believe that if someone did have all the knowledge in the world, he/she would use it correctly because they would have the intelligence to do so.

    1. I agree with Ammerah completely, because I believe that knowledge can become to powerful, but good things can come out of knowledge when used correctly. Like she said, knowledge has helped prolong lives and without it the human race wouldn't be where it is today.

  41. I agree with BOTH, because some can argue that knowledge is dangerous and some argue that it is useful. These two opinions are only there because of the nature of men. You can use knowledge to change society in a good way or to totally destroy everything. If you knew everything there is to know then life would be VERY boring because you wouldn't find anything interesting anymore. Knowledge is only dangerous if it goes to the wrong person. The true nature of human is ugly, if you think about it, men are the most selfish to walk the earth. We may say we're the smartest, but we're certainly also the most selfish. So if we get to much knowledge then it can very much cause war and destruction

  42. I agree with Einstein because he predicted that humans will rely on technology to solve our problems instead of ourselves. The world would be a terrible place if controlled by technology. People should put down their machines and created an enlightenment period such as the one that occurred in the 1700s.

  43. I agree with Socrates because true knowledge is knowing everything there is about something. Saying that you know everything would be arrogant when you really don't know the subject inside-out. Knowledge can become dangerous if used for personal reasons, but who wouldn't want to use it for that kind of stuff? I some knew everything they needed to know then they could do whatever they want with it if they spent so much time researching it. But it will take a long time because it's not true knowledge on the topic if they don't know everything there is to it.

  44. Socrates once said, “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing”. I agree with this statement completely. There is so much knowledge to be gained in this world, and no matter how hard we try, we won’t be able to get it all. In life, one of our greatest objectives is to learn something new each and every day. When you accept that you know nothing, you are capable of fulfilling that objective. No one has the full capacity of knowledge, but when we accept that we know nothing, you are in a state of mind where you are willing to learn and be taught.
If someone knew everything there was to know in this world, their life would be dull and pointless. We are meant to learn from our mistakes each and every day, but how do you make mistakes if you know everything? You can’t. There would be no more surprises, and life would be a huge colorless abyss. There would be no point for anyone to live if they knew everything there is to know in this world. You would know right from wrong and good from bad. That is what we try to learn our entire life. If you already know that, then what is your purpose in life?
Knowledge can definitely become a dangerous thing. It is today. Someone with too little knowledge is just as dangerous as someone with too much knowledge. When you don’t know much, you are putting yourself and the people around you in danger. There are things that can hurt you, terribly, if you don’t know how to stay safe from it. Someone with too much knowledge is too acquainted with power. That is how dictatorships are born and people are made slaves. When only one person knows something, they have power over everyone else. Others who want that information will do anything to get it, from doing their bidding to slaughtering them. Now when you have knowledge you can choose to use it for good or bad, but we humans don’t really have a choice. Humans are selfish. It does not matter how kind or charitable you are, we are selfish, and very few have the will power and fight in them to choose good.

  45. I agree with Einstein more than I agree with Socrates.
If a person were to know everything, it would be more of an advantage than a disadvantage. Most of the comments state that there would be no point in living, but I believe that that is untrue. The advantages would be providing people with information they want or need to know. For example, I would want to know how the universe was created or how mankind came to be. The world would probable want to know new cures for diseases or solving crimes or solving history's greatest mysteries. But the greatest disadvantage would come to that person, who would have to store infinite information into their head, and would drive them insane.
Knowledge can definitely become dangerous. Too much would or too little could kill.
The pace that our knowledge as humans is going at a good pace. Not too fast but not too slow either.

    1. I agree with you because i think both of the men are right, but einstein more than socrates. It is better to have too much knowledge than too little knowledge but still bad to have too much or too little.

  46. (sorry for my post being lateeee) but I agree with Socrates because acceptance is really important in this lifetime. Some people will always know a little bit more than others do no matter what. Like the government probably knows more about things than kids my age. But it is really important for us to accept that and face the facts that we don't know everything. We never stop learning ever, so it is definitely wiser to say that one is still learning about things rather than they've reached the point where they know all things. I don't think that anybody truly knows everything and thinking like that is mind blowing. If anyone ever really knew everything they would probably forget certain factors because nobody can learn everything and remember it all. It may be dangerous to know a lot not necessarily to others but mainly to yourself because it can be overwhelming. And it may affect your common sense.

  47. Even though Albert Einstein made a good point, personally agree with Socrates, because even though mankind may see itself as superior to all other races, we honestly know nothing. No matter how far technology advances along with humanity as a whole, we will still be as ignorant and oblivious as ever. Humans don’t even know their own purpose on this planet! Some people say that “the-best-of-the-best” (in a specific field) know everything there is to know about their specialty when in reality, they simply don’t. For example, while a specific author may be known as the very best, but there are still so many things to write about and innumerable ways to write it.

If one single person really did know everything, they would not be able to live their lives normally. They would see everything how it really is. They would understand how truly cruel and merciless the world is. I have always believed that if ignorance is bliss, then knowledge is insanity. If this one person had to bear the weight of knowing everything, they would truly go insane. And, depending on who this person is, they may use this knowledge for personal gain. They may use it for the benefit of others, or they may just sit back and watch the world crumble around them, even if they knew how to stop it. They may not even be able to bear this power and go completely haywire.

Knowledge has always been dangerous. It can cause confusion, chaos, frustration, and mayhem. Knowledge can be used to put power in the wrong hands, which can lead to the downfall of a society. Knowledge is similar to medicine: in small does, it can is useful and helpful, but in larger amounts, it can be lethal.

  48. I agree more with einstein, because too much knowledge is better than too llittle, but still bad. If you had too much knowledge, it would be bad, and you would not be able to live a happy, normal life. Sometiemes secrets are made to protect you, so when you find them out, it can put you in danger. Anyone who knew everything would be miserable, and never feel surprise or excitement. Also, if you knew nothing, then you would not be able to protect yourself, and would be put in danger.
